The term "shadow IT" describes the technology used within a company without the consent or assistance of the primary IT division. Usually, it refers to using equipment, software, or cloud services that have not been formally endorsed or sanctioned by the business. Shadow IT can develop for several reasons, including staff members looking for more effective or adaptable solutions or inadequate technology solutions from IT departments. Shadow IT can make it harder for IT departments to govern the technological environment and provide security threats and compliance problems. Shadow IT, however, can also offer helpful perceptions into the requirements and preferences of employees and, on occasion, can spur innovation within a company.
